Inlet valves are the wall-mounted ports your central vacuum hose plugs into — and they do more than just provide a connection point. In low-voltage systems, the inlet valve completes the signal circuit that automatically turns your power unit on and off as you plug and unplug the hose. In dual-voltage systems, the valve also delivers 120V power to the hose for electric power nozzle operation.
Swiss Boy carries low-voltage inlets, dual-voltage inlets, automatic dustpan inlets (toe-kick vacpans), and decorative covers and trim plates to match your home's interior finish.
Low Voltage vs. Dual Voltage
Low-voltage inlets carry only a low-voltage signal wire — plugging in the hose completes the circuit and starts the power unit automatically. This is the most common inlet type in residential central vacuum installations built after the mid-1980s.
Dual-voltage inlets carry both the low-voltage signal and a 120V electrical connection, allowing a direct-connect electric hose to power an electric power nozzle without a separate wall outlet. If your home has an electric power nozzle setup, you likely have dual-voltage inlets.
Automatic Dustpans (Vacpans)
Automatic dustpan inlets are mounted at floor level in kitchens, mudrooms, and laundry rooms. A simple toe-kick activates the inlet, letting you sweep debris directly into the central vacuum system without bending down or using a dustpan. One of the most popular add-ons for existing central vacuum systems.
